The “ValleyHill BlackScale DistanceEdition SLR” is the ultimate rod, specifically designed for the Heavy Carolina Rig and fishing from the shore with long casts. To specifically target structures and changes in open water, rods over 8 feet have now become standard, while the demand for extremely long rods in the 10-foot class has also increased significantly from experienced anglers. However, realistically speaking, it's inevitable that an extra heavy power rod over 9 feet will be heavier. Therefore, reducing the overall weight of the rod, including eliminating tip weight and improving handling, has been a constant challenge in developing long rods for the heavy Carolina rig. The question was: "Can you truly achieve an overwhelmingly light weight without compromising the current strength, stiffness, and rod power?" To achieve this, the reduction of resin content in the carbon fiber, already implemented in previous models to reduce weight, was further developed without unnecessarily reducing material thickness. By re-evaluating the resin content in each section, the material was restructured. This improvement process ultimately led to the development of a new "SLR blank" that combines both lightness and strength. Unlike the common practice of balancing all models to the same standard, an approach was taken here where each rod was optimized according to its specific characteristics and fishing styles. The Model 96 prioritizes ease of handling, allowing for effortless bite responses even over extended periods ("waiting balance"). In contrast, the NEW Zero One prioritizes the rod's overall weight, maintaining a subtle weight shift at the tip to provide natural responsiveness when a fish bites ("attacking balance"). To further enhance lightness and optimize the "bottom sensitivity" essential for the Heavy Carolina Rig, all models utilize Fuji SiC guides with titanium frames. Furthermore, the design of both models follows the popular ultimate monochrome "Kurokage" (black shadow) design and is tailored to the specific action and individual characteristics of each model, particularly through differentiated EVA grip designs. Although they belong to the same series, a design was developed that expresses the individual characteristics of each model. Thus, the ultimate model specifically for the Heavy Carolina Rig has finally been created, satisfying the true expert anglers who constantly strive for evolution.
